dragonwooddesigns.deviantart.c… is my lady wife of these many years.

skyfirestock.deviantart.com/ Is my new stock account. (Started 18 January, 2016)

My interests are broad and varied, encompassing many fields of study.

I like to make knives, weapons, and tools. Most of my knives are sculpture in the multi-mediums of metal and wood, plus leather for the sheaths. My skills include metal, wood, and leather-working. I also work with decorative knots and braids. Years ago I was apprenticed to a weapon and sword smith through the SCA, but I could not stay with it due to being on active sea duty in the Navy. When I left the SCA I was a journeyman metal smith. Adding to my skills I have also taken classes in metal casting, tool making, and jewelry smithing.

Recycling is a big part of acquiring my materials. I pick up old lawnmower and saw blades to cut up and use for my knife blanks. I will go to my local recycling company and purchase pieces of copper, brass, and other metals for projects. I will also buy old tools and drill-bits and refurbish or re-purpose them. Some of the wood I use comes from old trim molding and pallets.

Along the way I have discovered that I like photography. I started out just wanting to take pictures of family and the knives I had made. Now I am having a blast getting out and taking photographs of the world around me.

I also draw and sketch, but mostly for weapon and tool concepts. I am not that good at drawing people or animals. I am old-school; I use mechanical pencils and pens on paper. Only recently have I been trying out different drawing programs.

If you have any questions or observation, feel to send them my way.
Well, I revamped my other account to displaying photos from my sessions with models. Still an early work in progress, but a start. I will be showing thumbnail sets and low-res photos, and will have premium folders with full photos of the professional models sessions that I have shot. https://www.deviantart.com/dragonlustsformaiden I am still exploring various avenues to recoup the cost of paying for the models, and location rentals. Tips from my new job will at least pay for my next photo session. Any helpful input would be appreciated, posted here, or on the other site. I have at least one booking with a local model coming up this month, so stay tuned. Till later!

Life update

3 min read
Well, as of the end of January, I left trucking. No real gripes with my company, other then the ubiquitous ones most employees have about their companies. No, I was having fatigue burn-out. Not having a set sleeping schedule, and the long hours of driving, was taking a toll on me. In December of last year I noticed I was making fatigue induced mistakes. Small thing at first. It was starting to worry me. On my last delivery, from Washington to South Oregon in January, I was driving in the ice storm. In Washington, I saw where two different cars had slid off the highway. Response was already on site for each. I had a heavy load, and was being slow and careful. Heading south, in Oregon, I saw two semi and trailers on there side, and two jack-knifed. Three semi and trailers that had pulled off to to the side of the highway exit ramp, and had the right side wheels off the edge of the road. They were dangerously tilted to the right, waiting on tow-truck to pull them back to the safety of

So, I think I have a partial solution to the limit. I have three accounts on here on DA, and the other two are not really in use. One is my poor attempt at a stock site, not updated in years. So, I think I will re-use it as an archive for the images I purge from this site. As to what I will purge, I am looking at my older stuff. Maybe the ones that that were only Faved, but not commented on, first. I will start by backing up the images, for uploading to a secondary DA account. As to when I start, I have already purged most of my Scraps. I may start on my older stuff tonight. It will be an ongoing, and time consuming, process. I will update, as needed.
